AGM Once again the APT had an extremely busy fund raising year, providing avariety of social events for parents, teachers and children. The year commenced with the AGM which was held on 1st October 2009, when the Chairperson and Treasurer provided updates on the previous years APT activities. This was followed by a very interesting viewing of a film highlighting the girls visit to Kenya in July2009 during the “Kenya Challenge”. CRAFT FAIR The Craft Fair took place on Saturday 7th November. This is a well established fun filled event. Special thanks to Dot who worked diligently behind the scenes throughout the year to ensure its success. It is a well attended friendly event which provides the opportunity to purchase from a variety of high quality handmade merchandise. The standard of crafters were excellent and displayed a stunning treasure trove of original and wide ranging affordable goods. In addition there were also refreshments, which included delicious home made pastries, and a variety of hot foods. The cake stallwas once again very popular and thanks to the dedicated and talented group ofcake bakers for whom we (and the children) are very grateful. The event raised an impressive £3,800. SPRING BALL The most glamorous event of the year was the Spring Ball, held on Friday16th April. This provided an excellent opportunity for parents, both new and existing to meet for an enjoyable social evening. It started with a champagne reception, followed by an excellent meal provided by Randals. Special thanks to the girls who transformed the hall into a dazzling venue where guests danced the evening away to thesound of Vocal Zone . To date, thisevent has been held every other year. However, as it is so popular the APT hope to host a Spring Ball every year, and we welcome all to attend, tickets are usually on sale just after Christmas. This year the Ball raised £1,700. The last event of this year was the uniforms sale which took place on Induction day and raised over £700. The committee would like to take this opportunity to thank Ms Slevin for her continued support and participation in the APT, also to all the school stafffor their invaluable contributions. Your help and guidance enables us as a committee to work alongside the school. Also for being open to new ideas, suggestions and supporting us in new ventures. A special thanks to Mrs Kirkpatrick and Mrs Townsley who have provided unlimited administrative support and also the Canteen staff and Caretaker who have willingly helped throughout the year. I would also like to thank all the parents who have showed their support whether it was donating for the tombola, gifts for raffles or inviting friends and family to events. It is these contribution that are so vital to any fund raising event. I would like to thank each member of the committee especially Pamela Patterson Chairperson and Julie Armstrong Treasurer, who have been truly supportive in their commitment. The committee haveworked together demonstrating amazing teamwork, despite their own busy hectic lives and I would also like to thank all the pupils of Victoria College who also provided us with their help and support, thank you all so much. I look forward to the year ahead. Finally as a parent you are automatically a member of the APT, and we would welcome any support you could provide even if it is just an hour of your time to help out at events. You are more than welcome to come along to our AGM in September which is very informal and provides a great opportunity to meet other parents and teachers. “Volunteers don’t get paid, not because they’re worthless, but because they’re priceless” – Sherry Anderson.
