Modern Languages

In Victoria College, every pupil will be able to learn two modern foreign languages.

In Year 8, all pupils start with French and in Year 9, girls have the opportunity to study German or Spanish, in addition to French. All pupils in the school are encouraged to complete a GCSE course in one or in some cases two languages. French and Spanish are offered to those girls who wish to continue with their modern language studies at GCE As and A2 level. Italian is currently offered to pupils in Years 10, 11, 12 and 13.

We enjoy multiple opportunities to improve language learning in the College. In Victoria College, we promote the rich linguistic and cultural diversity of Europe and around the world. We encourage lifelong language learning in and out of school, whether for study purposes or for pleasure and exchanges.

We have links with some European countries and there are educational visits to different places in Spain and France.
