Congratulations to Amy Montgomery who successfully auditioned for the Ulster Youth Orchestra. This is wonderful achievement for Amy and we wish her success in all her upcoming events with the orchestra.
The P7 Prep girls visited the VCB Art Department after all their hard work for a post AQE minion making workshop hosted by students and staff
Wishing the girls all the best for their results this weekend!
Many congratulations to Tiana Atkinson a Year 10 pupil who was awarded first place in the under 16 category in the World Lyrical Dance Federation championships last weekend. A fantastic and well deserved achievement!
Award winning ceramicist, Anne Butler and our very own VCB textile guru, Mrs Joanne Porter treated Year 13 and 14 art students to two masterclass workshops to inspire and develop new skills in drawing with porcelain and fleece.
The girls throughly enjoyed the experience and produced some very interesting outcomes.
A huge thank you to everyone who supported the Christmas Craft Fair on Saturday and made the event truly special and festive once again. We are still working on the final total raised and while we are busy counting the takings, we wish to extend our sincere thanks to everyone who made the fair a hugely successful Christmas shopping experience. From the artisan crafters in the main assembly hall through to our exciting Tombola stall which never disappoints and of course our amazing pupils with their craft stalls who delivered and thrilled our shoppers with everything from plants to pom-pom decorations and hot chocolate candy sticks, it was a unique and exciting event. The canteen was alive with Christmas music and atmosphere, with visitors taking the opportunity to enjoy a warming bowl of homemade soup, a festive snack and a chat with family and friends. The cherry on the top of our Christmas cake was when The Welcome Organisation, supporting people who are homeless, accepted unsold hot and cold food to serve at the hostel...a very fitting end to a truly special day.
We would ask you this week to support the Christmas fundraising effort by purchasing tickets for the Christmas Prize draw which are on sale all of this week. Pupils from the Junior school were given books of tickets to bring home last week and those in Senior school will be given tickets today. We are urging all parents to please support the school by purchasing tickets to win one of our fabulous prizes. If you wish to purchase more tickets than those sent home, please contact Mrs Crockard in the Richmond office. Please return tickets, sold and unsold, and the correct money by this Friday 14th December. The draw will take place during the last week of term and all winners notified immediately.
Good luck, huge thanks for your support and a very merry Christmas from the APT
Fun in the Art Department as we celebrate Belfast Fashion Week.
Taking inspiration from the designers of London, Paris and Japan, Victoria College Belfast's Year 10 art students worked together to create unique garments
The lesson culminated in a fun fashion show, where the pupils showcased their paper haute couture on our very own classroom catwalk, complete with Paparazzi to document and report on the unique style and flair of these up and coming new young designers.
