On the 13th September, Rebecca Lobo and I travelled to Sheffield as part of the Ulster U16 team to participate in the UK School Games.
When we arrived we got a tour around the athlete’s village, our kit and time to participate in the different activities around the village. The following day we travelled to Abbeydale Sports Centre to watch Scotland playing Wales before our training session on the pitch. We were very lucky to be able to play on the same pitch that was used in the London 2012 Olympics. On Saturday we played Scotland and we won 7-0, later that evening we had time with a few paralympians that spoke to us about their experiences. On Sunday we played Wales and won 4-0. As overall champions of the UK school games we were awarded a gold medal.
Rebecca and I were also selected to represent Ulster in the U16 interprovincial tournament from the 17th-20th October. We had a long 6 hour bus journey to Cork which took the majority of the first day. The next day we had a training session in very heavy rain followed by a match against the South East which our team won 6-0. The next day we played Leinster and after a tough game lost 3-1. Then later we played Munster and drew 0-0. The next day was our final match and we won 5-0 against Connaught. We finished in 3rd place overall.
